Maryborough House Wedding photographer - Jane & Richy

They say the devil wears Prada but cupid definitely wears red Louboutins. These two are probably the sweetest human beings ever and are so sickeningly in love with each-other that it just rubs off on anyone associated with them 😊 I'm totally obsessed with them and even more so with their day

last weekend I had my first double header of the year in cork of all places (random I know). With Maryborough house in Douglas first up. Walking into the prep room where the girls were getting ready I could hear the giggles and banter from down the hall, all set to the back drop that is Taylor Swift on a Spotify playlist with Jane singing away every time the make up artist stopped applying make up to her haha. with school and work friends in the bridal party there were jokes and stories being told from different times in their lives. The one thing I tell my couples is that getting ready photos aren’t about makeup and hair and ties and jewellery etc they are about the people in the room. Cos it’s pretty much guaranteed that these are your most dearest and trusted people in your life. and it was no different here with Janes mum Claire ,messaging me after the wedding saying “from the minute you walked into the bridal suite I knew Jane had made the right choice. Your calmness & laid back approach put everyone at ease instantly & you just became part of the bridal party in that room with us”

Getting to travel to be a Maryborough house wedding photographer for one of the most sort after venues in cork was such an amazing experience. Maryborough offers some unique features like their orangery perfect for couples like Jane and Richy who wanted a chilled atmosphere with its hanging ceiling flowers and gorgeous natural light and mirrored walls to hide the bar this space offered one of my favourite ceremonies of the year headed up by their amazing celebrant Aisling O’ Connor. With myself and videographer Brendan from make my day productions having plenty of room to work in tandem with eachother. I love Brendans laid back style it matches mine so well and its always a stress free day when he’s around.

Everyone I spoke to at the wedding said they loved The gardens and grounds, the mature gardens give couples lots of opportunities for wedding photography without needing to leave the venue. A complete wedding-day experience, ceremony, drinks reception, meal, dancing and accommodation can all happen at the one property. Wedding accommodation, the bridal suites are within the historic mansion and include separate bedroom, sitting-room and bathroom spaces. The wedding team – this may actually be one of the biggest commercial advantages. John and all the team really could’t do enough for them with Richy praising the team for their organisation and making the day feel stress-free in his speech .Location – it offers the feeling of a country-house wedding while being close to Cork city and relatively convenient for travelling guests. Spa and hotel facilities – couples can turn the wedding into more of a weekend experience rather than simply attending a reception. I wish I had taken advantage of it aswell double headers are not to be taken lightly haha I guess I will just have to come visit as a guest next time instead of a Cork wedding photographer :)

My favourite thing though was that Richy and Jane were just totally themselves all day. Sweet, honest, a little nerdy and most of all loved by everyone in that room.

By now you know my stance on weddings !!!

TO GET THE BEST PHOTOS YOU HAVE TO BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOU

This isn’t for marketing, this isn’t for instagram, and this definitely isn’t for vogue.

This is the truth of documentary wedding photography. it doesn’t have to be fancy and it doesn’t have to hide behind anything. it just needs to be honest and truthful and if you are the ones that want to spend time with the people you love on your wedding day and love a hands off approach then come and say hi

Enjoy the rest of the photos, cos I tell you one thing I sure did love taking them !!! what a wedding, what a couple and truth be told I bloody love Cork too!!!
