It’s very rare the rain doesn’t stop for a wedding in Ireland. But on a cold and wet day in November the rain didn’t stop and neither did the smiles. With K-pop Demon Hunters blasting from the prep room, I was having a little bop outside while I was waiting to begin my day as a Dunboyne Castle wedding photographer. The contrast between the boys and girls was so funny. The girls eating salad and staying hydrated with bottles of water as where the boys were munching crisps and downing shots of whiskey. I pretty much think the sums up most wedding days. But Mary and Darren had planned the most chilled of days. As a meath documentary wedding photographer my goal of the day is to leat it unfold without directing or disturbing the flow of the day to capture the best natural candid photos that tell the true story of your wedding day.

There was something that Darren said in his speech. His said that in his teens and 20s he had spent his time chasing the dream. first to be a footballer and second to make it as a musician but what he has come to realise that is that Mary and the kids are the actual dream. Than hit me so hard from behind the camera because as a business owner we spend our time working so hard constantly. For every hour a meath wedding photographer photographs there is 9-10hrs of work outside of that. Transferring images, backing up, culling, editing, marketing, social media, blogging, website, client meeting its all non stop. but hearing that makes you realise there is more going on in the world especially in 2026 where the unknown is more scary than ever before. but i’m so grateful for what this life has given me. If you had said to be 10 years ago that this would be my life I’d have said you were crazy.
