With preparations starting in the family homes. it was an opportunity to have the amazing Deirdre Rusk come photograph with me for the day. As I made my way to Katies, Deirdre went to hang out with Ed and the boys. With both houses buzzing with excitement for what was going to happen that day both of these two just let the morning unfold the way it was meant to which just suited my relaxed documentary style of photography do what is does best and thats the true story of a wedding day. We both spent about 2 hours at each house before having to head to Killashee, which on average is what I do as photographer to piece the most part of your story together. Morning prep coverage isn’t about make up, flat lays or putting ties on at windows. It’s about the feeling, the atmosphere, the people. the ones you have with you on the morning are always the most important people in your life and they are as big as part of the story as you are. we then took the house drive from Meath to Killashee house down the m50 motorway and onto the N7. There was an accident on the motorway, thankfully no-one was injured but that is another reason to always build a buffer into every part of the wedding day always expect the unexpected.

Why Killashee House Hotel Is Perfect for Wedding Photography

Killashee House Hotel offers a mix of elegant interiors and relaxed garden spaces, making it one of the best venues in Kildare for documentary wedding photography. theres no two ways about it, the team at Killashee know weddings. It runs like a military operation and thats why you want on a wedding day. the more stress and decision making fatigue you can remove from you on a wedding day the smoother your day will be for both you and your guests.

Arriving to Killashee house in her grannies original 1990 Toyota carol that her dad has spent a few years restoring, all eyes where on Katie as she pulled up the main doors of the hotel as Ed waited nervously in the ceremony room. With Ruth Scott smashing a gorgeous ceremony. these two have their guests the chance to grab a photo for the gram. Then left the ceremony full of energy buzzing to what just happened and headed to the main manor to greet the 180 people who turned up to show their love for these two beautiful humans. a few family photos, and some portraits taken while the dinner bell rang for guest to be seated these two actually got to enjoy their reception time. As a documentary killashee house wedding photographer my goal is always for you to spend as much time with your people as possible. With bellies full and speeches that were full of laughter and a few tears. it was time for dancing in the banquet room that’s separated for dinner and dancing. With the Blue Romantics getting the crowd hyped with some top tunes and even a conga line…. Lets go !!! And these two finished up the night a glass of whisky and the biggest smiles on their faces you just love to see it!! Thank you for having me, for trusting me and for being unapologetically you!!!

Why Couples Love Killashee House Hotel

  • Victorian manor house character combined with a modern luxury hotel feel

  • 80 acres of gardens and woodland for portraits and outdoor ceremonies

  • Multiple wedding spaces for intimate and large celebrations

  • Close to Dublin while still feeling private and countryside-based

  • Elegant interiors with chandeliers, fireplaces, ornate mirrors, and natural light

  • Strong guest experience with spa, accommodation, breakfast, and leisure facilities

  • Dedicated wedding coordinators and highly structured planning process

One of the strongest recurring review themes is that couples feel the venue balances “classic luxury” with a relaxed atmosphere rather than feeling overly formal.

For photography specifically, the venue works well because:

  • there are indoor and outdoor options in all weather,

  • the grounds allow natural candid coverage without constantly moving locations,

  • and the light in the manor areas is soft and flattering for documentary-style imagery.
